UNAVETS and OneVet’s commitment to continuing education continued throughout June with new training sessions, courses and practical workshops aimed at veterinarians and veterinary assistants.

TRAINING SESSIONS IN SPAIN
Endoscopy Course
On June 12, the Veterios Training Room in Madrid hosted an introductory course on endoscopy and laparoscopic surgery, delivered by Ángelo Tapia.
The training had a strong practical focus, allowing attendees to become familiar with the use of the equipment and its main applications in dogs and cats. In addition, hands-on sessions using cadavers were carried out to facilitate the application of the techniques covered during the course.

Radiology in Emergency Cases
On June 18, Veterios hosted a training session on radiology applied to emergency cases, delivered by Raquel Salgüero.
Throughout the session, participants explored different tools for carrying out a rapid and effective radiological assessment in emergency situations, with the aim of facilitating clinical decision-making.

3rd Modular Ultrasound Course – Abdomen
On June 25, a new session of the 3rd Modular Ultrasound Course took place, focusing on abdominal examination.
Attendees were able to deepen their knowledge of the ultrasound assessment of the spleen, liver, biliary tract and adrenal glands, strengthening their skills in evaluating the main abdominal structures.

SOS Overweight: Is Being Overweight a Disease?
Also on June 25, Veterios hosted a training session for veterinary assistants on overweight in dogs and cats, delivered by María Solano.
The session covered the identification, prevention and management of overweight, highlighting the important role veterinary assistants play in educating pet owners and monitoring these patients.

On June 6, Hospital Veterinário OneVet da Tapada hosted a practical training session on FAST/POCUS ultrasound, delivered by Dr João Oliveira and Dr Tiago Neves.
The session covered different abdominal, thoracic, cardiac and vascular ultrasound protocols, combining theory and hands-on practice to facilitate the integration of these tools into daily clinical practice.

On June 13 and 14, Hospital Veterinário OneVet do Porto hosted a theoretical and practical training session on soft tissue surgery, delivered by Dr André Queirós and Dr Luís Maltez.
The programme covered a range of digestive, hepatic, splenic, urinary and reproductive surgical techniques, including procedures such as gastrotomy, nephrectomy, caesarean section and splenectomy.

On June 19, OneVet Hospital Veterinário do Porto hosted an Internal Medicine training session focused on Haematology, delivered by Dr Nina Rodrigues.
Through theoretical and practical clinical cases, participants explored different haematological disorders, including thrombocytopenia and immune-mediated haemolytic anaemia, as well as aspects related to transfusion medicine and differential diagnosis.
