The month of July marked the close of the quarter of continuing education, with new training sessions and specialised workshops organised by UNAVETS and OneVet in Spain and Portugal.
During these weeks, veterinarians and veterinary nurses took part in training sessions focused on wound management, neurology, feline atopic syndrome and brachycephalic obstructive syndrome, among other areas.
These activities continue to reinforce UNAVETS and OneVet’s commitment to keeping knowledge up to date and supporting the professional development of their teams.
TRAINING SESSIONS IN SPAIN
SOS Wounds: First Aid in Wound Management
On July 9, Veterios hosted the training session “SOS Wounds: First Aid in Wound Management”, delivered by María Solano.
The session had a practical focus and provided an opportunity to review the main steps to take when treating a patient with a wound, offering tools to improve initial care and management in the veterinary clinic.
These activities continue to reinforce UNAVETS and OneVet’s commitment to keeping knowledge up to date and supporting the professional development of their teams.
Practical Neurology Without MRI
On July 16, Veterios held a training session on practical neurology, delivered by Emma Hidalgo.
During the session, different neurological cases were discussed, with a focus on the examination and assessment tools that can be used during consultations before resorting to advanced imaging techniques such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
The aim was to strengthen veterinarians’ diagnostic skills and facilitate a more practical approach to this type of patient.
TRAINING SESSIONS IN PORTUGAL
Feline Atopic Syndrome
The session provided an opportunity to review the different manifestations of this syndrome and the available treatment options, including the existing evidence on less conventional therapies.
Clinical cases were also discussed, along with different diagnostic and therapeutic strategies tailored to each patient.
Bandaging and Wound Management
On July 10, Hospital Veterinário OneVet do Porto hosted a training session on bandaging and wound management, delivered by Dr André Queirós and Dr Flávia Bento.
The session covered wound assessment and treatment, as well as different techniques, materials and types of bandages. The training helped reinforce best practices to ensure effective and individualised management.
On July 17, the training session was held again at Hospital Veterinário OneVet da Tapada, with the same speakers.
On this occasion, the session focused in greater depth on wound assessment and the healing process, covering aspects such as cleaning, debridement, infection control, and the application of drains and bandages. The session also included clinical cases to strengthen the attendees’ practical skills.
HVP Talks | Brachycephalic Obstructive Syndrome
On July 22, Hospital Veterinário OneVet do Porto hosted a new edition of HVP Talks, focusing on brachycephalic obstructive syndrome and led by Dr Bruno Santos.
The session focused on the early recognition and management of this condition, sharing knowledge and experiences on the care of these patients.
Once again, the event highlighted the importance of maintaining specialised and up-to-date training to address the different challenges of veterinary practice.
WE CONTINUE TO INVEST IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF OUR TEAMS
The training sessions held throughout July complete a quarter marked by a diverse range of topics and a continued commitment to increasingly practical and specialised training.
Through courses, workshops and clinical sessions, UNAVETS and OneVet continue to provide their professionals with opportunities to update their knowledge, share experiences and acquire new tools that they can apply to their daily practice.
Continuing education will remain one of the key drivers for fostering the growth of our teams and contributing to excellence in veterinary care.
