Workshops on Communication and Client Management in Emergencies – Bilbao
On April 9, two workshops led by Jaime Díaz were held at the Tartanga Veterinary Hospital (Bilbao). The first focused on communication with clients, providing practical strategies to improve empathy, trust, and loyalty. The second addressed client management in emergency situations, offering useful tools for managing complex clinical scenarios with efficiency and sensitivity. Both workshops were specially designed for clinical teams and their direct application in consultation.
Session on Canine Leptospirosis – Madrid
On April 23, the Veterios Veterinary Hospital (Madrid) hosted a training session led by Maruska Suárez, organized in collaboration with Boehringer. During the session, the latest epidemiological data on leptospirosis, updates on vaccination protocols, and clinical cases were presented, reinforcing the importance of preventive medicine in small animals.
AVEPA Veterinary Specialties Congress – Zaragoza
On April 25-26, the AVEPA Congress took place in Zaragoza, where UNAVETS participated actively. Jaime Díaz gave the talk “Customer Experience: Learn to Design Yours,” where he shared tools for improving customer experience in veterinary centers. Additionally, five scientific posters developed by the Veterios Veterinary Hospital team were presented, consolidating UNAVETS’ commitment to scientific dissemination and education.
National Congress of Veterinary Assistants I-Vet – Silla (Valencia)
On May 16-17, this congress dedicated exclusively to veterinary clinical assistants took place in Silla (Valencia). Clinical and daily management topics were addressed through various presentations: • Blood Transfusions and Donors (María Teno)
• Basic Oncology (Nacho Molina)
• The Role of ATV in Surgery and New Technologies (Cristóbal Frías)
• Dentistry for Assistants (Jorge Llinás)
• Diabetes and Insulin (María Teno)
• Management of the Polytraumatized Patient (Cristóbal Frías)
This training emphasized the importance of auxiliary personnel in providing quality healthcare.
Let’s Defend Event – Madrid
On May 21, the Let’s Defend event was held at the Veterios Veterinary Hospital, in collaboration with Leti Pharma. After a welcome cocktail, Begoña Monge (specialist in Internal Medicine at Ramón y Cajal Hospital) and Gloria Pol (Veterinary Manager at Leti Pharma) gave a talk on leishmaniasis from a One Health perspective. This was an opportunity to integrate both veterinary and human medicine in addressing this disease.
LetiLab Session – Mallorca
On May 27, a training session was held at the Ciutat d’Inca Veterinary Hospital (Mallorca), led by Gloria Pol. The session included: • Allergies and Immunotherapy in Clinical Practice
• Diagnosis of Bacterial Infections (Pyodermas and Otitis)
• Updated Diagnostic Tools for Leishmaniasis
This specialized session focused on dermatology and infections, aimed at improving diagnostic accuracy and clinical approach in veterinary medicine.

Clinical Neurology Training – Oporto and Tapada
On April 4 and 15, this training was held at the Oporto and Tapada Veterinary Hospitals, led by Dr. Maria Oliveira. The session covered neurological exploration, functional neuroanatomy, diagnosis, and management of conditions such as disc herniation, seizures, epilepsy, and meningoencephalitis. An intensive training to gain confidence in making clinical decisions in neurology.
Abdominal Ultrasound Training – Tapada
On April 11-12, João Oliveira and Juliana Moreira led a training session at the Tapada Veterinary Hospital focused on abdominal ultrasound. The session covered the physical principles of ultrasound, its clinical application, limitations, patient positioning, report creation, and evaluation of various abdominal organs. Clinical practice allowed for immediate application of the learning.
HVP Talks: “The Puppy Has a Murmur!” – Oporto
On May 14, a new edition of HVP Talks took place at the Oporto Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Luís Lobo presented a clinical case focusing on the diagnosis of heart murmurs in puppies, addressing potential causes, diagnostic protocols, and when to refer to cardiology. An interactive session that generated valuable experience exchange among professionals.
