Our team at Nueva Andalucía Veterinary Hospital are professionals from different veterinary disciplines, ready to respond to all the needs of our patients, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We have a multidisciplinary, dynamic team that is constantly growing within the profession. We commit to offer our clients, through personalised attention, a service to the highest standard.

Veterinarians

Jorge Carvajal

Veterinary Director

Jorge graduated from the University of Cordoba in 1990 in Veterinary Medicine. He is the co-founder of the Solvet Veterinary Group, and is in charge of General and Oncological Surgery,
Traumatology and Minimally Invasive Surgery within the group. To reach this level, he has completed numerous training courses and has more than 25 years of professional experience. He splits his time between both the Nueva Andalucía clinic and the San Sebastián clinic. He is a great lover of photography and nature.

Jorge Carvajal

Veterinary

Jorge graduated in Veterinary Medicine from the Complutense University of Madrid in 2018, where he collaborated as a student intern in the Cardiology, Gastroenterology and Endoscopy Departments.

After a 3-year internship at the Veterinary Hospital of the Faculty of Zaragoza, he obtained a Master’s Degree in Small Animal Clinic I and II, and an Expert Master’s Degree in Therapeutic and Diagnostic Endoscopy and Minimally Invasive Interventionism. His main areas of interest are Cardiology, Internal Medicine and minimally invasive surgery and endoscopy techniques. He is a great fan of hiking and basketball, activities that he practises whenever his work allows him to do so. 

María Vivas

Veterinary

María graduated in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Zaragoza in 2018. She spent 6 months working in Bolivia on international exchange in sterilisation plans for animal shelters.

She has a Master’s Degree in Small Animal Clinic I and II, completing a 3-year internship with different clinical rotations. She holds the title of Expert in Therapeutic and Diagnostic Endoscopy and Minimally Invasive Interventionism. She also has a postgraduate degree in small animal surgery and anaesthesia from the UAB. Her areas of interest are Surgery, Internal Medicine and Oncology. As a good oscense, she loves outdoor sports, music and travelling in the company of positive people, but what she likes most is to enjoy her family and friends.

Irene Gallego

Veterinary

Irene graduated as a veterinary surgeon from the Catholic University of Valencia in 2019 where she was a student in the Internal Medicine service. For several years she worked at HV Benipeixcar in the emergency and internal medicine services for small animals.

She has now returned to her home region to join our hospital and continue with her career. She has a postgraduate degree in Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine and her main areas of interest are diagnostic imaging and small animal soft tissue surgery. In her spare time she enjoys hiking and nature, always in the company of her furry friends.

María del Mar Martínez

Veterinary

María del Mar qualified as a veterinary surgeon at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Caceres, where she also undertook a 3-year internship in the Surgery and Hospitalisation of small animals.

She completed an additional 3-month internship at the Veterinary Hospital of Zagreb. She is currently studying a postgraduate course in Ophthalmology at Improve International as well as continuing education in internal medicine, dermatology and small animal surgery.

Juan Rivera

Veterinary

Juan graduated in Veterinary Medicine in 2023 from the CEU Cardenal Herrera University of Valencia, where he worked as a student collaborator in the areas of pathology and internal medicine.

He has a particular interest in surgery, internal medicine, and diagnostic imaging; although he does not neglect the other areas to ensure the best possible training. 

He joined the Nueva Andalucía Veterinary Hospital in 2023. In his spare time, he loves to travel and practice all kinds of outdoor sports.

Anna Berge

Veterinary

Graduated in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Zaragoza in 2021, where she collaborated on the equine internship. Subsequently, she worked for 3 years on a postgraduate degree in Paris, at a reference hospital for small animal emergencies and surgery. She has a particular interest in ophthalmology (Improve International postgraduate), soft tissue surgery, and internal medicine.

Being French, she enjoys cheese and is passionate about travelling and hiking in the mountains.

Francisco Molada

Veterinary

Graduated in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Córdoba in 1999. In addition to working as a clinician in various hospitals and clinics throughout Spain, he has developed teaching roles in several training courses for both veterinary nurses and veterinarians. His main areas of interest are diagnostic imaging, internal medicine and feline medicine. He is currently undertaking a postgraduate degree in diagnostic imaging.

Fran is a great cat lover and enjoys painting miniatures, playing board games and travelling.

Lorena Cazorla

Veterinary

Graduated in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Murcia in 2024, where she was an internal student in the anaesthesia and toxicology service. Since graduating, she has worked in another hospital in Granada for six months and has now returned to her hometown to work with us. Her main areas of interest are internal medicine and surgery. She is currently pursuing a postgraduate degree in small animal surgery and anaesthesia, taught by the UAB.

In her spare time, she enjoys enjoying nature with her animals, scuba diving and travelling.

Lucía Larrubia

Veterinary

Graduated in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Córdoba in 2022. That same year, she went to Ireland, where she worked for two years in a mixed-practice clinic with all types of animals, from cows to dogs, cats, and exotics. This has provided her with extensive experience in handling and resolving a wide variety of cases. She has now returned to Spain to focus on small animal practice and to train in both soft tissue surgery and diagnostic imaging.

In her spare time, she is passionate about enjoying nature with her dog, Scorpio.

Yolanda García

Veterinary Assistant

Yolanda is our longest serving veterinary assisant, having worked with us since 2001.
Her job requires her to take on various different roles within the company, and she has many years of experience in dog and cat grooming.

Cristina Hernández

Veterinary Assistant

Cristina has been working as a Veterinary Assistant with us since 2003. She is an active and dynamic member of the team, who is
responsible for multiple roles at the Nueva Andalucía Veterinary Clinic. These include working on reception, telephone and in-patient care and coordinating the Group’s purchases.

Sheila Vega

Veterinary Assistant

Sheila has a diploma in Labour Relations, and has a degree in Veterinary Clinic Assistant and Veterinary Technical Assistant. Since July 2020, she has been working
as a Veterinary Assistant in our Veterinary Hospital Nueva Andalucía. Her previous work experience includes working as a shop assistant and a receptionist.

Catalina Cuevas

Veterinary Assistant

Catalina has a Veterinary Clinical Assistant and Dog Grooming degree. She has been working

as a Veterinary Assistant since 2009 and has a high level of experience and autonomy in all her tasks at the veterinary clinic. She loves animals and enjoys horseback riding and nature.

Miriam Martínez

Veterinary Assistant

Miriam has been a Veterinary Assistant since 2022. She is passionate about her profession, enjoys caring for animals and dedicates herself to it with all her love, a fundamental ingredient in the wellbeing of hospitalised animals.

In her free time she likes to enjoy the company of his family, nature and above all the sea.

Lucía Castillo

Veterinary Assistant

Lucía is a Veterinary Assistant with more than 10 years of experience. In particular, her professional development has revolved around protected species, especially birds of prey.

The inpatient area and in emergency medicine is where she performs his main function. She is in charge of giving personalised attention to each patient to protect their health and wellbeing. She is in love with her homeland, Almería, where she tries to enjoy its beaches and magical places whenever she can.

Kate Amanda Benson

Veterinary Assistant

Kate is a veterinary nursing assistant who joined our team 7 months ago. She specializes in exotic animal care and surgical assistance, demonstrating her ability to handle complex and delicate veterinary situations.

Additionally, she holds a degree in Psychology and is interested in starting a master’s degree in Canine Ethology, reflecting her commitment to animal welfare and her interest in canine behavior.

Kate is bilingual, fluent in both English and Spanish, allowing her to communicate effectively with a wide variety of clients. Outside of work, she is passionate about sports, photography, and art, giving her a creative and balanced perspective on her life and work. Her dedication and skills make her a valuable member of the veterinary team.

Cristina Expósito

Veterinary Assistant

She has been working as a veterinary assistant since 2013 and since then has continued her training by attending various courses in canine clinical practice and ethology.

She joined our team in 2024, but since 2013 she has worked in the multiple roles performed in a small clinic, ranging from receptionist to canine groomer.


She is an enthusiastic, active, and animal-loving person, always willing to help and care for them.


Her hobbies include traveling, especially with her dog. She loves discovering new cultures, enjoying the gastronomy of each place, and nature, whether it be the beach or the mountains. Additionally, she is a great sportswoman.
